Heating oil cost, dated and sourced

Pick your market. Every number on this site carries the name of the series it came from, the day its publisher released it and the day we last checked it. Where a series has gone dark we show the lag instead of filling the gap.

Each bar is one published reading, and its colour is where that reading sits in the range. Pale amber is cheap, burnt is dear. Colour on this site never means anything else.

Why a heating oil cost here is different from one anywhere else

It carries two dates

Not one. The day the publisher released it and the day we checked it. The UK reading is 23 days old. The US reading is 1 day old. When the federal survey pauses for the summer its print ages for six months, and the page says so rather than hiding it.

It names the series

Every figure links to the table it came from, with the series identifier. If you disagree with a number, you can go and read the source rather than argue with us.

It admits the gaps

The American survey stops for six months a year. The British series has no regional breakdown. The one genuine regional survey, in Northern Ireland, is theirs and we link to it rather than copying it. All three are on the site, in writing.

It sells nothing

No lead form, no quote widget, no email box, no supplier commission. Most of the commercial results for these searches are sellers. A price with a seller behind it has a direction in it.
